Search Wizard
When you first run ZipScan, you may be presented with the Search Wizard. If not, you can open the Wizard by selecting the option in the ‘File’ menu or by pressing Ctrl-W.
The Wizard helps you to carry out some simple, common tasks with ZipScan.
The options are:
- Find a lost file. ZipScan searches your hard disks for a file with a given name, looking inside Zip, ACE and RAR archive files. This is useful if you cannot find a file that may have been moved or archived.
- Open or Extract an archive file. Use this to list the contents of an archive file, or to extract all the files it contains.
- Search a single archive file. This options allows you to find files within an archive file. Enter the name of a file to find all instances of that file within the archive.
- Search CAB files. Many installation programs, including the one for Windows itself, come in the form of a collection of CAB files. If you need to find a file from the installation, for example a Windows driver file that has been corrupted or accidentally deleted, you can insert the installation CD and use this option to search for the desired file.
- Text search OpenOffice files. ZipScan provides find-in-files capability for OpenOffice files through this option.
- Classpath Search. This simply opens the CLASSPATH Searching feature of ZipScan.
Advanced Information
The first page of the Wizard has a check box for you to choose whether the Wizard should be run when ZipScan opens. Uncheck this box to stop the Wizard running. However, specifying the switch /W on the command line when running ZipScan will mean that the Wizard will always be opened.
